Terms and Conditions for Mental Health DNA
Informed Consent
Introduction
This Informed Consent explains the benefits, risks, and limitations of undergoing genetic testing provided through Mental Health DNA. The purpose of this test is to provide personalized insights into antidepressant medications, helping optimize treatment outcomes for mental health. By proceeding, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms. Participation is voluntary.
What We Collect and How It’s Used
To perform the Service, you will need to provide Identification Details (ID) and a DNA sample using the provided cheek swab kit. Your DNA sample will be analyzed for specific genes related to how your body processes antidepressants. The results will be securely processed and shared with you and/or your designated healthcare provider to help guide medication decisions.
Genetic results will be stored securely and not used beyond the requested analysis unless you provide explicit consent for future testing or services.
Benefits of the Services
Mental Health DNA testing provides:
Personalized Medication Insights: Recommendations for antidepressants and dosages tailored to your genetic profile.
Reduced Side Effects: Minimized trial-and-error periods, with fewer adverse reactions to mismatched medications.
Improved Treatment Outcomes: A more targeted approach to mental health treatment, helping you and your healthcare provider find a path to relief sooner.
Limitations of the Services
Genetics is One Factor: Results do not account for all health, environmental, or lifestyle factors and should be interpreted alongside professional medical advice.
Dynamic Science: Recommendations are based on current scientific knowledge, which is subject to updates. Your results may change as new research becomes available.
Informational Purpose Only: Reports are not diagnostic tools of mental health conditions and do not replace the advice of a healthcare professional. Always consult your healthcare provider before making treatment changes.
Privacy and Data Security
Mental Health DNA complies with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and takes the following measures to ensure the confidentiality and security of your data:
Confidentiality: Your genetic data is your property and will not be shared with third parties without your explicit consent.
Data Protection: Robust physical and technical safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized access.
Incident Response: In the event of a data breach, we will comply with all regulatory requirements and notify affected individuals promptly.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.
DNA Sample Retention
Your DNA sample will be stored securely in our DNA laboratory. You may request the destruction of your sample at any time by contacting us. We may retain samples for up to 10 years for compliance or additional testing, provided you have granted explicit consent.
